High-Stability, Low-Power
The Honeywell SL353LT is a digital omnipolar Hall-effect sensor IC designed for battery-powered applications where extending operational life is critical. Built with BiCMOS technology and an ultra-low duty cycle timing circuit, it achieves an industry-leading 1.8 µA typical current consumption at 2.8V — enabling years of continuous operation from a single coin cell battery.
Unlike conventional Hall sensors that require specific magnet polarity and external pull-up resistors, the SL353LT integrates omnipolar sensing (responds to both North and South poles) and push-pull output (no external pull-up needed) in a subminiature SOT-23 package. This combination eliminates two common sources of production cost and design complexity — making the SL353LT a true 'drop-in-and-forget' solution for high-volume, space-constrained, battery-powered products.
In consumer wearables, smart water meters, medical monitors, and wireless IoT sensors, the Hall sensor's standby current often dominates the power budget. Conventional solutions draw 0.3–3 mA continuously, forcing designers to use larger batteries, schedule frequent maintenance, or compromise on features.
Traditional Hall-effect sensors require the magnet to present a specific pole (North or South) toward the sensor. On high-volume production lines, this adds a manual verification step — workers must check magnet orientation, or expensive polarity-checking fixtures are needed. A reversed magnet means a non-functional unit, triggering rework, scrap, or field returns.
Space-constrained designs — TWS earbud charging cases, stylus pens, compact IoT modules, wearable medical patches — have little room for external components. Most Hall sensors with open-drain outputs require an external pull-up resistor, adding a BOM line item, a placement operation, and a potential solder defect point.

Selection rule of thumb: If your application checks the magnet state less than a few times per second and runs on a battery → choose SL353LT. If you need to track fast-changing magnetic fields (e.g., rotating shaft with multiple pole pairs) → choose SL353HT.
