The YQM3838R is a single-port SAW resonator in the widely-adopted SMD 3838 ceramic SMD package (3.8×3.8mm, 6-pin). It uses piezoelectric surface acoustic wave resonance to generate a stable, fundamental-frequency oscillation reference — serving as the frequency-control element in fixed-frequency wireless transmitters and superheterodyne receiver local oscillator stages operating in the Sub-1GHz ISM bands.
Compared to traditional LC oscillator solutions, the YQM3838R delivers fundamentally better frequency accuracy and reduced temperature sensitivity. The SAW resonance mechanism eliminates the troublesome frequency drift commonly caused by inductor aging, capacitor temperature coefficients, and parasitic PCB effects in LC tanks. This translates to tighter production frequency distribution, fewer field returns, and simplified end-of-line calibration.
